Our community is our home! We are committed to being involved and giving back to the community that supports us. Each year we partner with organizations in the Chippewa Valley to help kids and families who need a little extra help. Through the generosity of our staff, patients, and community residents we are able to do this.
Back to School Backpack Bash
Each year we host a fun event for families to enjoy before the school year begins. There is food, games, music and so much more. At this event, we donate backpacks and school supplies to hundreds of kids in the Altoona School District.
On Sunday, August 8th, 2021 we had our 4th Annual Backpack Bash at the new Fish House at 10th Street Park in Altoona. We gave out 304 backpacks and 325 stacks of supplies this year. We had a line starting almost an hour and a half before the event began, and the supplies were gone an hour and a half into the Bash!
We had so many community partners join us to make this extra special for the kids! There was…
- A temporary tattoo booth
- Several games for the kids
- Face painting by Paint it Forward
- Balloon animals by Kevin’s Juggling and Balloons
- A bounce house from Osseo Rents
- A DJ by Audio Tonic
- Hot dogs and popcorn from Micon Cinemas
- Snow cones from Snowie
- And, of course, vision screenings by Visionary Eyecare!
We feel honored to be able to help so many families in our community have a great start to the school year!
Visions of Warmth
An annual event where we collect and purchase warm weather gear to be donated to the Beacon House and the Bolton Refuge House for those less fortunate. We begin collecting donations each year at the end of October through November. We accept monetary donations to purchase items, or you can purchase items and drop them off at the store.
If you are interested in donating, please call or text 715-514-1289 with any questions.
Visionary Voucher
Each year, every employee is allowed to give away two pairs of glasses to those in need.
Frames Collection
Do you have an old pair of glasses lying around that you don’t use? Drop them off at our store, and we will donate them to the local Lions Club. When eye doctors take mission trips to other less fortunate countries, they bring an assortment of glasses with them to provide those in need with a pair of eyeglasses. Their goal is to help as many people as they can achieve clear vision.
